A Bethesda nonprofit that provides support groups for cancer patients recently debuted a new thrift store to raise money for the organization.
Hope Connections for Cancer Support, which runs mind-body classes, knitting, yoga and other activities to help cancer victims cope with the disease, opened “The Hope Chest,” a thrift store of donated clothes, shoes, artwork and giftware that includes jewelry made by Crafters for a Cure.
Six women from Montgomery County who have all been affected by cancer design and make the jewelry, now on sale at the store.
All proceeds will help fund Hope Connections, which provides free services at its new location in the historic Beaumont House.
The organization moved to the house, on a Rockville Pike medical research campus, in April from a space near the Grosvenor Mansion.
The store is looking for donations of gently-used clothes and other thrifty goods. Donations are accepted at the Beaumont House (9650 Rockville Pike on the FASEB Campus) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Items must be in good condition, clean and in-season.
The Hope Chest is located inside the Beaumont House and is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays.
