The Trader Joe’s-anchored shopping center on the edge of downtown Bethesda will have a new look after D.C.-based Douglas Development Corporation completes an ongoing redevelopment of the site.
Douglas Development bought the property, at 6831 Wisconsin Ave., in 1996. It was built in 1988 and is undergoing changes that will result in new facades, landscaping, a new welcome sign and a more accessible seating area.
Blogger Robert Dyer first reported news of the renderings, which are on display on the developer’s website.
The four-story, open air retail shopping center includes 139 parking spaces and storefronts that open up to balcony walkways.
The Trader Joe’s grocery store is the big draw, though the shopping center also includes a gym, dentist office, martial arts facility, Gymboree location and a few others.
