Weekly Crime Report: June 3 to June 11

This week’s 2nd District crime summary should serve as a reminder to lock your car doors:

Six thefts from vehicles occurred along the DC border during the overnight hours from Sunday, 6/9 to Monday, 6/10 in the Westhaven / Westgate neighborhoods. Only one vehicle had forced entry.

The number of thefts from vehicles is up slightly (1 percent) this year compared to this period of time in 2012, according to the 2nd District Commander. The thefts happen in neighborhoods across the area:

A theft from vehicle occurred in the 4400 block of block of Ambler Drive in Kensington on Tuesday, 6/4 at approximately 2:20 a.m. No forced entry; cash taken.

The rest of the June 3-June 11 crime summary follows:

A residential burglary occurred in the 11100 block of Snowshoe Lane in Rockville on Tuesday, 6/11 between 10:00 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. Forced entry; property taken.

A residential burglary occurred in the 5100 block of Newport Avenue in Bethesda on Friday, 6/7 between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Forced entry; property taken.

A theft occurred in the 5530 block of Wisconsin Avenue in Chevy Chase on Wednesday, 6/5 between 12:30 and 1:00 p.m.

Suspect: B/M, 55-65

A residential burglary occurred in the 5900 block of Aberdeen Road in Bethesda sometime between Tuesday, 6/4 and Thursday, 6/6. Property was taken from a garage.
