Woman hit in Potomac Giant parking lot dies

WASHINGTON – Police in Montgomery County are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision Sunday afternoon in Potomac.

Around 2 p.m., a 2009 Acura MDX moving through a Giant Food parking lot at 7919 Tuckerman Lane hit a woman – identified as 81-year-old Shirley Stearman of Potomac, Md. – as she was walking from her car toward the store.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue was already at the grocery store for an unrelated call and began assisting immediately. Stearman was taken to Suburban Hospital but later died of her injuries.

The driver of the car that hit Spearman was Hyun Jeung In, 43, of Germantown, Md. The car involved is a 2009 Acura.

The incident is under investigation and police are asking anyone with more information to call 240-773-6620.
