Weekly Crime Report: March 18 to March 26

County parking garages are not immune to thefts from vehicles, as some found out two weeks ago in downtown Bethesda:

Three thefts from vehicles were reported between Thursday, 3/21 and Saturday, 3/23 involving vehicles parked in county garages/lots on Wisconsin Avenue, Woodmont Avenue and Arlington Road in Bethesda.  Forced entry in one instance; the others were entered without any signs of force.  Items taken included a laptop, GPS, clothing, and checks.

Two thefts from vehicles were reported this week; one on Old Georgetown Road and one on Bangor Drive in Bethesda.  The incidents occurred over a span of days and neither was discovered right away.  Loose items left inside were taken.

A vehicle theft occurred in the 5100 block of Strathmore Avenue, North Bethesda overnight from Sunday, 3/24 to Monday, 3/25.  A vehicle was taken from an open garage.

Arrested: Male, age 17, from Kensington.

Four thefts from vehicles occurred in this Bethesda beat – two occurred on different days in the Friendship Heights area and two occurred during the early morning hours on Tuesday, 3/19 in the Glen Echo neighborhood.  Forced entry and assorted valuables left inside (laptops, wallets, clothing etc.) were taken.

A weapons offense was committed in the 7500 block of River Road, Bethesda on Wednesday, 3/20 at approximately 5:15 p.m.  The two referenced suspects were stopped for a traffic violation.   A weapon was found during a search.

Arrested: Male, age 25, from Purcellville VA; Male, age 24, from Sterling, VA.

A commercial burglary occurred in 6701 Rockledge Drive, Bethesda sometime over the weekend from Friday, 3/22 to Monday, 3/25.  No forced entry; property taken.
