Weekly Crime Report: Dec. 31 to Jan. 8

Police made arrests in two residential burglaries earlier this month, one that came in the Maplewood/Alta Vista neighborhood:

A residential burglary occurred in the 5100 block of Alta Vista Road, Bethesda on Tuesday, 1/8 between 10:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., Forced entry; property taken.

Arrested: Male, 16, from Washington, DC; Male, 15, from Washington, DC.

A residential burglary occurred in the 10400 block of Montrose Road, Potomac on Tuesday 1/8 at approximately 1:15 p.m.  Forced entry; nothing taken.

Arrested: Male, 16, from Washington, DC; Male, 15, from Washington, DC.

A theft occurred at Day Ave and Capitol View Avenue, South Kensington on Tuesday, 1/1 at 1:00 a.m.  The suspect forcefully removed property from the victim.

Five thefts from vehicles occurred this week in the Farmington neighborhood of Chevy Chase.  Assorted loose items left inside the vehicles were taken.

In the 3500 block of Hamlet Place between Thursday, 1/3 and Friday 1/4, two vehicles were entered (no sign of force).

In the 6500-7300 blocks of Western Avenue between Friday, 1/4 and Saturday, 1/5, entry was gained into three vehicles; two via forced entry, one via an unlocked door.

Four thefts from vehicles occurred in the 11400 block of Rolling House Road, North Bethesda overnight from Saturday, 1/5 to Sunday, 1/6.  All of the vehicles involved had been left unlocked.  Cash and a GPS unit were reportedly taken.

An aggravated assault occurred in the 3500 block of Anderson Road, Kensington on Tuesday, 1/8 at 11:00 a.m.  The suspect is known to the victim.
