2 teenagers hit while walking to school in Mont. County

WASHINGTON – Two teenagers hit by a car on their way to school along Randolph Road in Montgomery County are expected to be OK.

Fire officials say the two teens were on a sidewalk near the Pilgrim Hill Recreation Center. It’s not clear if they were walking to school or a bus stop.

Wednesday is Walk to School Day in Montgomery County, which aims to raise awareness and promote pedestrian safety. Thousands of students were expected to participate in the event, along with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel.

The driver of the car was trapped inside the vehicle after the crash. All three have been taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are investigating why it happened. The road was wet at the time of the crash.
