Md. 10th grader hit by police car in stable condition

WASHINGTON – A Montgomery County police cruiser hit a Watkins Mill High School student Friday night following a football game in Gaithersburg, Md.

The 15 year old was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition, school officials say. She is awake and talking to doctors, according to Watkins Mill.

Several fights allegedly broke out across the street from the high school after the game, but no further injuries were reported.

“It is important to note that the game ended without incident, most spectators had left the school campus, and the reports of fighting took place off school property in a neighborhood near our school,” said school principal Scott Murphy in a statement.

Montgomery County police identified the officer involved in the collision as Cpl. Raymond Bennett. He has been placed on leave during an investigation.
