Perez scores twice; FC Dallas beats Vancouver 2-1

FRISCO, Texas (AP) — Blas Perez scored twice, including the go-ahead goal in the 78th minute, to help FC Dallas beat the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1 on Saturday night.

Perez got the tiebreaker in the 78th minute when he cleaned up a deflected free kick for Dallas (13-9-6). Earlier, he opened the scoring in the 20th minute from a nearly impossible angle, curling in a shot from just outside the corner arc that caught goalkeeper David Ousted off his line.

Erik Hurtado tied it for Vancouver (8-7-13) in the 67th minute. Mauro Rosales fed the ball forward and a streaking Hurtado sent it past goalkeeper Raul Fernandez. Hurtado’s first score since June 7 gave the Whitecaps goals in consecutive games after going scoreless in four straight.

Ousted made a save of Victor Ulloa’s attempt through traffic in the 33rd minute and made another in the 60th minute on a close-range shot by Fabian Castillo.
