GENEVA (AP) -- Leading clubs expect UEFA to make a decision next week about whether to suggest switching the start of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar away from the heat of summer.

European Club Association Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says talks are planned when UEFA's strategy council meets Sept. 19 in Dubrovnik, Croatia. The panel includes four ECA delegates.

FIFA President Sepp Blatter has said his executive committee on Oct. 3-4 should decide the tournament cannot be played in Qatar's searing heat and start discussions about a better time.

A November-December tournament would shut down Europe's top leagues for several weeks and alter the Champions League schedule. Rummenigge warns against impacting the "fantastic" European season.

Still, Bayern Munich's chairman says "I don't believe it was a mistake" for FIFA to choose Qatar.
