Poll finds Nats fans want Strasburg shut down

What do you think? Do you think Strasburg should be shut down before his final two or three turns in the rotation during the regular season? Post a comment in this story, comment on WTOP’s Facebook Page or use #WTOPTalkback or #WTOP on Twitter.

WASHINGTON – Stephen Strasburg should be shut down for the rest of the season say most Americans, according to a new poll.

The Washington Times/JZ Analytics Poll showed that 47 percent of those surveyed say there’s no reason to risk Strasburg’s arm by chasing the playoffs, while 42 percent said they weren’t sure. Just 11 percent said he shouldn’t be shut down.

Strasburg’s arm, and whether to shut him down early, has been a debate in D.C. and for Nationals fans since the star player returned to the field after his 2010 Tommy John surgery — a procedure to replace his elbow ligament.
