Reds complete trade that sent Broxton to Brewers

CINCINNATI (AP) — The Cincinnati Reds acquired right-handed pitchers Kevin Shackelford and Barrett Astin from Milwaukee on Wednesday as the players to be named in the Aug. 31 trade that sent right-hander Jonathan Broxton to the Brewers.

Shackelford started the season with Single-A Brevard, appearing in 12 games with a 0.87 ERA before being promoted to Double-A Huntsville. With Huntsville, the 25-year-old Shackelford made 40 relief appearances, going 2-4 with a 4.86 ERA. He was selected by the Brewers in the 21st round of the 2010 draft out of Marshall.

Astin pitched in 27 games for Single-A Wisconsin, including 18 starts. He went 8-7 with a 4.96 ERA and recorded four saves. The 22-year-old Astin was a third-round draft pick by Milwaukee out of Arkansas in 2013.
