Bumgarner’s perfect game broken up in 8th

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner has lost his bid for a perfect game on a leadoff double in the eighth inning by Colorado’s Justin Morneau.

Morneau’s line drive landed cleanly and bounced into the right-field corner in San Francisco on Tuesday night. Morneau leads the NL in batting average.

Bumgarner had struck out nine and took a 2-0 lead into the eighth.
