Blue Jays RHP Rogers DFA; OF Reimold activated

NEW YORK (AP) — The Toronto Blue Jays have designated reliever Esmil Rodgers for assignment for the second time this season, and they have filled the right-hander’s spot on the 25-man roster by activating outfielder Nolan Reimold from the 15-day disabled list.

Reimold was out because of a strained left calf. Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said before Sunday’s game against the New York Yankees that Reimold will be used as a designated hitter or pinch hitter for several days before he sees action in the outfield.

Rogers had not made an appearance since he was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday.

Rogers had no record and a 6.97 ERA in 16 relief appearances before being designated in late May. He was then sent outright to Buffalo.
