CINCINNATI (AP) — The Cincinnati Reds said on Sunday that right-handed pitcher Alfredo Simon had been added to the National League team for Tuesday’s All-Star game.

Simon (12-3), who was the first NL pitcher to reach 12 wins is tied with St. Louis’ Adam Wainwright for the league lead.

Simon joins fellow Reds right-hander Johnny Cueto, left-hander Aroldis Chapman, third baseman Todd Frazier and catcher Devin Mesoraco on the NL team.

Cueto started Sunday for Cincinnati and will most likely not be available to pitch on Tuesday.

This is Simon’s first All-Star game.

The previous time the Reds had as many as five All-Stars was in 1991 — pitchers Tom Browning and Rob Dibble, shortstop Barry Larkin, right fielder Paul O’Neill and third baseman Chris Sabo.
