Phillies move on, let pitching coach Rich Dubee go

Monday - 9/30/2013, 4:10pm  ET

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- The Philadelphia Phillies are not renewing pitching coach Rich Dubee's contract after nine years with the team.

The decision to part ways with Dubee was announced Monday, a day after the Phillies finished 73-89 for their first losing season since 2002. Manager Charlie Manuel was fired in August and replaced by Hall of Fame second baseman Ryne Sandberg.

Dubee joined the Phillies with Manuel in 2005 and his nine seasons as pitching coach tied for the most in club history with Cy Perkins (1946-54) and Ray Rippelmeyer (1970-78). Other staff announcements will be made at a later date.
