SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Tiger Woods has won at Torrey Pines for the eighth time, and the seventh time in the Farmers Insurance Open. Woods closed with an even-par 72 for a 14-under total, four strokes ahead of Josh Teater and defending champion Brandt Snedeker. Woods is seven victories away from tying Sam Snead for the all-time record of 82 Tour wins.
NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- The Ravens arrived in New Orleans yesterday after thousands of fans turned out to Baltimore's Inner Harbor to send the team off to their second Super Bowl. Retiring linebacker Ray Lewis, coach John Harbaugh and Ed Reed were among the Ravens who spoke to the crowd before the team got on buses and headed to the airport to fly to New Orleans for Sunday's game. The Ravens take on the San Francisco 49ers, who arrived in the Big Easy yesterday.
UNDATED (AP) -- Michigan is No. 1 in the AP college basketball poll for the first time since the start of the 1992-93 season. The Wolverines received 51 first-place votes, while second-ranked Kansas claimed 13. Third-ranked Indiana is followed by Florida and Duke, which was No. 1 last week before a lopsided loss at Miami.
UNDATED (AP) -- Luke Gregerson's agent says the pitcher has agreed to a $3.2 million, one-year contract with the San Diego Padres. Infielder Ronny Cedeno (seh-DAYN'-yoh) has agreed to a $1.15 million, one-year contract with the St. Louis Cardinals. And the Philadelphia Phillies have given pitcher Chad Durbin a one-year deal and worked out a minor-league contract with utilityman Yuniesky Betancourt (yoo-NEHS'-kee BET'-ehn-kohrt).
MONTREAL (AP) -- The Montreal Canadiens have re-signed defenseman P.K. Subban (soo-BAN') to a two-year deal, about two weeks later than they had hoped. Subban did not attend training camp and missed the first four games of the regular season while negotiating with the Habs. He had seven goals and 36 points in 81 games for the Canadiens last season, leading the club in average ice time and finishing seventh among NHL defensemen with 205 shots on goal.
