LOUISVILLE (AP) -- Brandon Triche (TRISH) had 23 points to lead No.6 Syracuse to a 70-68 win over top-ranked Louisville. Russ Smith had 25 for the Cardinals who become the second No. 1 ranked team to lose on consecutive Saturdays. Louisville had their 11-game winning streak snapped.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Marian Hossa scored twice for Chicago in a 5-2 win over the defending Stanley Cup champ Los Angeles Kings on the first day of the lockout-delayed NHL season. The Kings were presented with their championship rings in a pre-game ceremony that also included the raising of the title banner and the presentation of the Stanley Cup.

ATLANTA (AP) -- Struggling Atlanta suffered a blow with the loss of guard Lou Williams for the rest of the season with a torn ligament in his right knee. Williams was averaging 14.1 points before he was injured Friday against Brooklyn. The Hawks have lost eight of 10.

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) -- Maria Sharapova has rolled into the quarterfinals of the Australian Open with a resounding 6-1, 6-love win over Kirsten Flipkens. The second seed opened the tournament with consecutive 6-love, 6-love wins and has only lost an Australian Open record five games in the first four rounds.

UNDATED (AP) -- Major League Baseball suffered the loss of two greats on Saturday with the deaths of long-time Cardinals star Stan Musial and former Baltimore manager Earl Weaver. Musial was a 24-time All-Star who spent his entire career with St. Louis, where he won three World Series title, won seven National League batting titles and was a three-time MVP. The fiery Weaver took the Orioles to four World Series in 17 seasons and won the Fall Classic once. Musial was 92, Weaver was 82.
