FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) -- After an offseason spending spree a year ago, the L.A. Angels have opened their pocketbook again, landing free-agent slugger Josh Hamilton. Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels says the 31-year-old outfielder is leaving his club for the AL West-rival Halos. Sources with knowledge of the deal says it's for five years and $125 million.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Twins have hopefully filled another hole in a staff that was full of them last season, when their starters posted the second-worst ERA in the majors and 12 pitchers took at least five turns in the rotation. After finalizing a $10 million, two-year contract with Kevin Correia (kohr-AY'-uh), Minnesota general manager Terry Ryan acknowledged there's no guarantee the right-hander will strengthen the group.

IRVING, Texas (AP) -- Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant caught passes during Thursday's practice and says he will play with a broken finger Sunday against Pittsburgh. The third-year pro fractured his left index finger in last weekend's 20-19 win at Cincinnati and will need surgery. The question remains, when?

NEW YORK (AP) -- The NHL labor dispute is dragging and the two sides don't appear to be anywhere close to a deal. Representatives of the owners and players made it into the same room with a federal mediator on Thursday, a day after holding separate meetings, and failed to make any noticeable progress.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) -- A violation of athletic department policy by Mike Rice has earned Rutgers basketball coach a three-game suspension without pay and a $50,000 fine from the university. Athletic director Tim Pernetti says no NCAA violations were involved.
