FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) -- After resurrecting his career over the last five seasons with Texas, free-agent outfielder Josh Hamilton is signing on with the AL West-rival Los Angeles Angels, according to Rangers general manager Jon Daniels. The 31-year-old outfielder was named 2010 American League MVP while leading his team to the first of back-to-back appearances in the World Series.

BOSTON (AP) -- If Ryan Dempster passes a physical, he'll be playing his 16th major league season with Boston next year. Two people familiar with the negotiations say the 35-year-old right-hander and the Red Sox have agreed to a $26.5 million, two-year contract.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Eagles will be playing the role of spoiler tonight when they host the Bengals to kick off Week 15 play in the NFL. Cincinnati is 7-6 and looking to remain in the AFC wild-card hunt. Philadelphia is 4-9.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) --After getting results of an in-house investigation, Rutgers athletic director Tim Pernetti has suspended basketball coach Mike Rice three games without pay and fined him $50,000. Pernetti says that it's a result of inappropriate behavior and language and no NCAA violations are involved.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Tom Watson has been named captain of the U.S. team that will take on Europe in the 2014 Ryder in Scotland. The 64-year-old, eight-time major champion guided the Americans to victory at the Belfrey in England back in 1993.
