FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) -- The 2010 AL MVP is off the free-agent market. Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels says Josh Hamilton has agreed to a contract with the L.A. Angels, ending his team's bid to re-sign him.

NEW YORK (AP) -- The Americans are bringing back Tom Watson as Ryder Cup captain with hopes of ending two decades of defeats in Europe. Watson led the victorious U.S. squad in 1992 at the Belfrey in England. That was the last U.S. win away from home.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Andres Torres is returning to the San Francisco Giants for the 2013 season after one year in New York. The 34-year-old outfielder hit .230 with three homers, 35 RBIs and 13 stolen bases in 132 games for the Mets.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Minnesota Twins are bringing Kevin Correia (kohr-AY'-uh) on board in hopes of bolstering a rotation that had the second-worst ERA in the majors last season. The 32-year-old right-hander was a respectable 12-11 with a 4.21 ERA for Pittsburgh this year.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Mike D'Antoni (dan-TOH'-nee) returns to Madison Square Garden tonight for the first time since resigning as Knicks coach last March. His 9-13 Lakers will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak when they take on an Eastern Conference-leading Knicks club that is 16-5 overall and a league-best 8-0 at home.
