KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- After failing to land former NFL coach Jon Gruden and Louisville's Charlie Strong, Tennessee is turning to Butch Jones to take over its downtrodden football program. Jones went 23-14 at Cincinnati the past three years after going 27-13 in three seasons at Central Michigan. Tennessee just finished a third straight losing season.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Right-hander Dan Haren is joining an already formidable Nationals rotation led by Stephen Strasburg and Gio Gonzalez. The 32-year-old right-handed free agent has signed with Washington for one year after posting a 12-13 record and 4.33 ERA in 30 starts for the Los Angeles Angels this year.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Reed Johnson is sticking with the Braves, signing a $1.75 million, one-year contract that includes a club option for 2014. The soon-to-be 36-year-old veteran was the top pinch hitter in the National League last season when he went 18 for 43 with Atlanta and the Chicago Cubs. Johnson batted .290 overall, with three homers and 20 RBIs.

TORONTO (AP) -- The Blue Jays plan to honor the franchise leader in home runs and RBIs next year. Toronto will make former first baseman and two-time All-Star Carlos Delgado the 10th person named to the club's Level of Excellence during a pregame ceremony on July 21.

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (AP) -- The Thunder host the Lakers for one of 12 games on tonight's NBA schedule. Oklahoma City has run off six straight wins and at 15-4 shares the second-best record in the league with San Antonio, which hosts Houston. League leader Memphis is 13-3 ahead of tonight's game at New Orleans.
