SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) - Desmond Jennings hit three home runs, including a grand slam, to lead the Tampa Bay Rays to an 8-5 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday.
Jennings connected twice off left-hander Wei-Yin Chen and added a solo shot off reliever Kevin Gregg in the seventh. He finished with six RBIs.
Before Sunday, Jennings had no homers and one RBI in 42 at-bats.
Jennings hit a tape-measure shot off Chen in the third to give the Rays a 2-1 lead, and homered again in the fourth after the Rays loaded the bases on Jose Molina's double, a walk to Matt Joyce and an error by Orioles shortstop J.J. Hardy.
Chen gave up seven runs, three earned.
Baltimore got two homers from Hardy and one apiece from Nick Johnson and Nick Markakis.
