2 boats catch fire, sink in Baltimore Harbor

BALTIMORE (AP) — The U.S. Coast Guard says two boats caught fire and sank in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.

The Coast Guard says that watchstanders at its Baltimore sector got a report about the blazes in the Fells Point neighborhood around 3:30 a.m. Monday. The caller said that a boat in the Belts Wharf Landing Yacht Club had caught fire and drifted across the harbor, causing a second boat in Henderson’s Wharf Marina to catch fire.

The two boats then sunk. No injuries were reported.

The Coast Guard says it’s coordinating with environmental and fire department officials to contain and recover oil and debris from the sinking.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
