1 dead after collision in Howard County

COLUMBIA, Md. (AP) — Police say an early morning crash in Howard County left one person dead and two others injured.

Howard County police say 29-year-old Nicholas Thomas Morrison was driving a 2002 Nissan Frontier westbound on Guilford Road in Columbia just after 4:30 a.m. on Sunday when the car veered off the roadway and struck a tree. Police say Morrison was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say two passengers, 26-year-old Francis Everett and 19-year-old Garland Stewart, were transported to Shock Trauma in Baltimore.

Police say a preliminary investigation revealed that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
