Man stabbed twice in heart in Baltimore recovering

BALTIMORE (AP) — A Baltimore-area man stabbed twice in the heart during a robbery six weeks ago says he’s improving daily and wants his attackers found.

Sal Schittino (skuh-TEE’-no) was returning to a friend’s house after getting a pizza in Baltimore’s Federal Hill neighborhood when a group of young man attacked him around 4 a.m. Aug. 19. One of the men stabbed Schittino multiple times, including twice in the heart, before leaving him for dead.

Schittino tells WBAL-TV (http://bit.ly/1uHeWnK ) that had to undergo open-heart surgery and has to use a breathing apparatus 10 times every hour.

No arrests have been made in the case. Schittino says whoever attacked him needs to be found and kept off the streets.

A reward for information about his attackers is now at $7,000.
