3 dead ID’d in apparent murder-suicide in District Heights

WASHINGTON — Three people are dead in District Heights, Md., in what police are calling a murder-suicide.

Prince George’s County Police were called to the 1500 block of Addison Road South around 4:30 p.m. after reports of a shooting. They forced their way into the residence to provide aid. They found two women suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. One of the women was pronounced dead at the scene. The other woman and a man found at the scene were transported to a hospital where they both died.

Police believe the shootings were the result of a domestic situation and that the man shot both women before turning the weapon on himself.

The victims are identified as 42-year-old Zonita Monia Roberts, of Springhill Parkway in Smyrna, Georgia, and 43-year-old Angela Lynette Johnson, of Iverson Street in Oxon Hill. The suspect is the recently estranged husband of Johnson. The female victims are not related.
