Bus hits, kills pedestrian in Maryland

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) — Prince George’s County Police say a woman was killed when she was hit by a bus in Upper Marlboro.

It happened about 10:35 a.m. Thursday on Main and Water Streets. Police say officers arrived to find the woman trapped under the bus. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers say the woman was in a crosswalk when she was struck by the bus, which was attempting to make a left turn from Water Street to Main Street. The driver remained on the scene.

The Washington Post reports that the bus is operated by the county’s Department of Public Works and Transportation.

The accident is under investigation.
