WASHINGTON – A man is in police custody after he smashed an SUV into a McDonald’s drive-thru in Landover Hills early Tuesday.

Here’s what police say happened just after 5 a.m.

Police received two calls, one for a carjacking in the 7000 block of Annapolis Road and the second for a vehicle into the fast food chain in the 6200 block.

Police say the preliminary investigation indicated the carjacking victim was sitting at the intersection of Annapolis Road and 71st Avenue when the suspect asked him for a ride. When the victim declined, police say the suspect “implied that he had a weapon.”

The victim jumped out of the SUV and the suspect jumped in.

Police say while headed down Annapolis Road, the suspect struck a minivan. The driver of the minivan followed the SUV until it crashed into the McDonald’s. drive- thru. Nobody was in the chain.
