FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police say a man who barricaded himself in a hotel room, forcing the evacuation of 30 guests, has surrendered peacefully.

Troopers say 41-year-old David Fioramonti of Purcellville, Va. Surrendered about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Country Inn & Suites near the intersection of Route 85 and Interstate 270. Authorities say he was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with self-inflicted stab wounds.

Fioramonti has been turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshal's Service because he is wanted on a federal warrant in Virginia.

Troopers and U.S. marshals were trying to serve a warrant around 11 a.m. when the man barricaded himself in a room on the second floor of the hotel.

Troopers say that when officers identified themselves, the man said he had a gun.
