Officials: Driver strikes man before colliding into Prince George’s County building

WASHINGTON – A man is injured after a vehicle struck him before colliding into a building in Prince George’s County Monday morning.

A man was walking along the sidewalk on Rhode Island Avenue near 42nd Place in Hyattsville at about 7:30 a.m., when a car hit him and continued into a nearby building.

Prince George’s County Fire Department says emergency crews transported the female driver to an area hospital with minor injuries. The man, whose name has not yet been released, is in critical condition.

The collision did not injure anyone in the building. A fire department spokesperson says the store may not have been open.

Officials have not released any additional details about the crash, including what led to the incident.
