ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (AP) -- Howard County police say nine drivers were arrested in a sobriety checkpoint in Ellicott City.
Police say seven of the arrests were for driving under the influence of alcohol, and two of those drivers were also charged with a related drug offense and for driving without a license.
Police say an eighth arrest was for a drug violation, and a ninth involved an unlicensed driver.
Police say 950 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, which was set up from Friday night into Saturday morning.
The checkpoint was located on westbound Route 40 and Governors Run Way.
