Highway worker stuck, killed on I-695

WHITE MARSH, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police say State Highway Administration worker was killed when he was hit by a car on Interstate 695 in White Marsh.

Troopers say about 11 a.m. Thursday, a car driven by 61-year-old Mary T. Levy of Pikesville was traveling on the interstate when it left the road and continued on the shoulder.

Police say the car hit 50-year-old Eddie Gliyard of Baltimore, a 25-year veteran of the SHA who was repairing a road sign. Officers say a second SHA worker, 38-year-old Nathan A. Brown of Middle River, was not hit but was injured.

Troopers say Gliyard was pronounced dead at the scene. Levy and Brown were taken to local hospitals.

The accident is under investigation.
