ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- A man has been sentenced to nine months in jail for stealing more than $278,000 from a union's pension fund.
Thirty-six-year-old Mario Enrique Meyers of Frederick was also ordered to pay restitution to the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades at sentencing Tuesday in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court.
The union represents more than 160,000 people working in painting, drywall finishing and glazing. Prosecutors say Meyers stole through wire transfers and forged checks.
The Annapolis Capital reports (http://bit.ly/1aFWtMW) Meyers said in court that he was ashamed of his actions.
