BROOKEVILLE, Md. (AP) -- The Maryland 1812 Commission has awarded $1.2 million in grants to projects across the state that will celebrate the 200th anniversary of the national anthem next year.

The funding includes a grant for the Maryland Academy of Sciences to help make the Imax 3D film "Star-Spangled Banner: Anthem of Liberty." Organizers say the film will be screened in theaters nationwide.

Another grant will fund a reenactment of the Battle of Caulk's Field next year in Kent County. Others will fund county festivals and commemorations of the War of 1812 across Maryland.

The grants announced Monday range from $250,000 to $5,000.
