WASHINGTON - Saturday brought 14 of the best food trucks from the District, Maryland and Virginia in one spot.

The Curbside Cookoff Food Truck Festival was pulled together in Wheaton Station Park by the DC-Maryland-Virginia Food Truck Association. Hundreds of people turned out on a cloudy but comfortable day to enjoy foods ranging from hot dogs to crab cakes to Puerto Rican food and a whole lot more.

The Food Truck Association's signature event is the Curbside Cookoff Traveling Food Truck Festival. The next one will be on the grounds of St. Elizabeth's in Southeast on Oct. 26.

This festival was co-sponsored by the Wheaton Urban District of Montgomery County to benefit Mid-County United Ministries (MUM), which helps people in crisis in the Wheaton, Kensington and Aspen Hill communities with food, medicine, eviction prevention and utilities, emphasizing client choice, problem-solving and self-sufficiency.

MUM has been providing a safety net to the working poor, disabled people, elderly people on fixed incomes and the unemployed since 1996.
