TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- The family of a woman who went missing in 1986 is asking Baltimore County prosecutors for a grand jury investigation into her disappearance.
Bernadette Caruso hasn't been heard from since leaving her jewelry store job at the Eastpoint Mall.
The family believes Caruso is dead, though her body hasn't been recovered. They've been circulating a petition demanding that county prosecutors present the case to a grand jury.
State's Attorney Scott Shellenberger told WBAL News that there's not enough evidence to take the case to a grand jury or to file charges against anyone.
He says the case is currently suspended but he'd be willing to reopen it if presented with new evidence.
