ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Anne Arundel County has settled a pension dispute with three part-time state's attorneys.
Under the deal, the three workers won't have to repay hundreds of thousands of dollars in pension benefits they were mistakenly paid.
Greg Jimeno, a lawyer for two of the employees, tells The Capital of Annapolis (http://bit.ly/138BSzO ) that the impetus for the settlements was a new law passed that bars the county from taking back pension benefits mistakenly paid to an employee.
Four employees of the office sued after the county began taking money out of their paychecks after officials realized that the Office of Personnel had mistakenly failed to reduce the pension contributions and had been paying them at the full rate.
The county settled one of the cases last December.
