COCKEYSVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Police in Baltimore County say an officer shot and killed a man who refused to drop a knife he was holding.
The man, identified as 49-year-old James Robert Rogers Jr., of Cockeysville, died of his injuries early Sunday.
Police say officers were called to Rogers' home Saturday night for a report of an assault.
Police say the 911 caller stated that his son was threatening him and his wife with a knife and had taken the knife with him into the garage.
Authorities say an officer who responded to the call shot Rogers after he refused to drop the knife he was holding.
The officer's being placed on administrative duty, which is standard for police-involved shootings. The officer's name hasn't been released.
