9-yr-old boy struck by car in Md. dies

WASHINGTON – A 9-year-old boy who was hit by a car as he rode his bike in Bowie, Md., died from his injuries two days after the collision.

Prince George’s County police say Jahbari Jawon Howe was suffering from critical injures when police arrived to the 12800 block of Woodmore North Boulevard Sunday evening. The boy was taken to a local hospital were he died from his injuries Tuesday.

Police say Jahbari was riding his bike close to the sidewalk as an Infiniti approached on Woodmore North. Jahbari suddenly turned into the main travel portion of the road and was struck by the Infiniti. Police don’t know why Jahbari turned abruptly.

The driver remained at the scene. Neither alcohol nor speed played a role in the crash based on preliminary information, police say.

Police did not release the name of the driver. No charges have been filed.
