Md. man arrested in North Carolina for murder

WASHINGTON – A suspect is under arrest in Prince George’s County, charged with the murder of Jerome Zephier Peters, 22, in Landover, Md.

Joshua Jones, 23, was arrested in Fayetteveille, NC after police say he fled the state.

On June 30, officers responded to the Hillcrest Heights neighborhood at 1:15 a.m. for a shooting. They found Jerome Peters suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to a news release.

The release says Peters was at a family member’s home caring for his young child. The child’s mother and Jones arrived to pick up the child when the two men got in an argument.

The PGPD Fugitive Squad traveled to North Carolina and arrested Jones on July 9. Jones is charged with first degree murder and related charges.
