KINGSVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Maryland authorities say they've recovered the body of a kayaker from the Gunpowder River, one day after receiving a distress call.
The state Natural Resource Police say they recovered Daniel Travis Deamond on Sunday from a large debris pule at the Route 1 bridge.
Crews began searching for the 26-year-old Parkville man on Saturday afternoon after a 911 call came in for a water rescue.
The search was suspended at nightfall but resumed on Sunday morning, when crews with a crane cleared debris from the bridge and located the body.
It'll be taken to the medical examiner's office in Baltimore for an autopsy.
