SANDY POINT, Md. (AP) -- The Maryland Transportation Authority says both spans of the Bay Bridge have reopened.
The transit authority lifted traffic restrictions on the bridge Thursday evening after earlier shutting down all lanes of the bridge because of severe weather passing through the area.
Though the storm has passed and all lanes are of the bridge are again open, authorities say travelers should still use caution when crossing.
The bridge is a critical artery linking the Baltimore-Washington area to Maryland's Eastern Shore.
Forecasters have warned that storms in the afternoon could produce damaging winds and large hail and a flash flood watch is in effect through the evening
