Student found dead in UMD’s Kent Hall, appears accidental

WASHINGTON – A female student was found dead Monday afternoon at the University of Maryland and an investigation is underway.

The student’s body was found in Kent Hall, a dorm building, on campus.

In a news release, the University of Maryland Police Department said officers received a call about an unresponsive student around 1:15 p.m. Monday afternoon, but found that she was dead upon arrival.

Foul play isn’t expected and police don’t believe it’s suicide.

“The unfortunate death appears to be the result of an accident,” according to the news release.

The student’s parents have been notified but a name hasn’t been released pending further discussion with her parents.
