TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- A lawyer for 21 people who filed a lawsuit against a doctor and hospital for implanting unnecessary stents into patients' hearts have settled the suit.
The settlement was announced on Thursday during the malpractice trial against Dr. Mark Midei and St. Joseph Medical Center in Baltimore County Circuit Court.
Jay Miller, who represented the 21 people, said a settlement was reached with Midei and the hospital's former owner, Catholic Health Initiatives.
Neither Miller nor a lawyer for Catholic Health Initiatives would release details of the settlement.
In 2010, the hospital notified more than 500 patients that they may have been given unnecessary stents. Midei's medical license was revoked in 2011.
