LAUREL, Md. (AP) -- Officials in Laurel say they're expanding an investigation into several recent fires that have been deemed suspicious.
Police and fire officials are investigating at least seven fires. Authorities say the fires they're investigating have caused over $600,000 in damage. Officials say the cause of two of the fires at Emancipation and Discovery Community Parks have similarities. The five other fires are being called "incidents of interest."
The city of Laurel is offering up to a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the fires.
Fire officials say they do not think the incidents are linked to a fire at the playground at the Granville Gude Park. Two juveniles were arrested and charged in early March with setting that fire.
