Third Middletown resident claims lottery prize

WASHINGTON – Call it Luckytown. For the third time in a year, a Middletown resident has won a large Maryland Lottery prize.

Bruce Barnhard won Monday night’s $675,000 Multi-Match jackpot. He decided on a whim to stop for a drink at Stup’s Market in Adamstown, Md., and bought a Multi-Match ticket, Barhard told Maryland Lottery officials.

“As soon as the machine scanned the ticket and I saw I had to go to Lottery headquarters, I had a feeling it was something good,” Barnhard told the Maryland Lottery.

“I looked the numbers up as soon as I got home and couldn’t believe what I was seeing,” he said.

When Barnhard told his wife, Eileen, he won she didn’t believe him.

Barnhard follows neighbor David Cline, also from Middletown, who won a $50,000 lotto prize last Friday in a Price is Right scratch-off ticket. In January, an anonymous winner from the same town claimed a $1 million Powerball prize.

Stup’s Market will receive $1,000 commission for selling the ticket.
