Pedestrian hit in Bethesda

WASHINGTON – A 59-year-old man is in serious condition after he was hit while walking across a busy Bethesda road.

Traffic was re-routed off of Old Georgetown Road for more than an hour as police investigated the accident that happened just after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Montgomery County Police believe the driver of a silver 2006 Honda Civic was traveling southbound on Old Georgetown Road when he hit a pedestrian walking in the southbound lanes, just north of Alta Vista Road.

Police say the driver stayed on the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The victim is recovering at a local hospital while the investigation continues.
