BALTIMORE (AP) -- A former correctional officer at a Hagerstown prison has pleaded guilty to conspiring with other officers in the beating of an inmate, and nine other current or former officers from the prison are now facing charges.

Prosecutors said Wednesday that Dustin Norris, 28, has pleaded guilty in the case. He faces a maximum of five years in prison at sentencing Oct. 28. On Wednesday the FBI also announced nine other current or former officers are now facing charges in connection with two assaults on the inmate.

Prosecutors say Norris was a correctional officer at the Roxbury Correctional Institution in Hagerstown when on March 9, 2008 he and four other officers beat an inmate. Another officer who opened the door for the group, Ryan Lohr, has also pleaded guilty.
