ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Farmers are rallying from their tractors to repeal a law designed to reduce the growth of septic systems in Maryland.

Farmers drove tractors around Annapolis on Tuesday to make their point.

Joe Kuhn, of Woodbine, gave interviews to reporters while riding on his tractor near the Maryland State House. Like many other farmers he believes that the law infringes on his property rights, including his ability to sell his property to potential developers.

Tom Zolper, a spokesman for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, says the law was approved last year to reduce pollution and limit taxpayer expense of sprawl.

A measure before a legislative committee would repeal the law passed last year.

The law creates a four-tiered system limiting where residential subdivisions on septic systems can be built.
